About

The name sounds ominous, doesn't it? You might ask…what exactly happens at The M.A.D. House? Will I be locked up in a straight jacket for all eternity? Or forced to listen to the song that never ends until my eardrums burst? Perhaps I'll lose my mind? Well, these are all great ideas for future experiments, but what happens at The M.A.D. House is much more straightforward.

Simply, we are Mad about Music And Drama.

Whether you want to learn how to sing, speak like a Bard or harness your dramatic side, all the world's a stage. Whatever your addiction, anything is possible at The M.A.D. House. The Doctor enthusiastically creates a safe, fun & artistic environment in which patients can push their own boundaries, develop their skills & confidence whilst enjoying the wonderful world of theatre & music.

What makes us different?

The M.A.D. House is located in Glasgow, Scotland, and is a Performance- focused Studio specialising in Voice & Musicianship, Audition & Stagecraft, Public Speaking, and Peak Performance Coaching.

We explore the various aspects of being a performer. Starting with the basics of technique and how to read music, how to develop your unique singing and spoken voice, whether for the stage or a class speech or work presentation. We give you everything you need to nail your auditions, from choosing the best material to what you will wear on the day. To top it off we look at what makes you tick, and how you can get your 'mental' performance into it's best place possible.

Many students join the studio to get help preparing for auditions, performances, solos, and other special events. Vocal repertoire covers a variety of styles, from classical and musical theater to jazz and pop.

What makes the Doctor different from other teachers? Her experience and skills as a performer. She has been on the other side of receiving feedback and is well-practiced in auditioning herself. She brings a unique sense of playfulness to her sessions and understands that performing is more than sounding or looking good, it is about expressing who you are through a forum that you love.

WHAT FORMER PATIENTS SAY

I came to lessons with Helene not knowing anything about tuning or the technique of singing. Helene taught me many skills that enabled me to get into productions and to go further in the Performing Arts industry, getting into one of London's most prestigious Performing Arts Schools.

Helene was patient and understanding, really helping me understand the vocal anatomy to produce a nice sound. Lessons with her helped me gain the confidence to sing in front of audiences.

She is a very talented performer and has a lot to give to young striving performers like myself. Not only teaching about the technique she taught me the passion of singing, the meaning of songs and how to share that with an audience.

Helene has a warm and engaging manner that helps you to feel immediately comfortable. She asks great questions and really listens to what goals you are trying to achieve by having lessons with her. Lessons are always fun while exploring technique and working on pieces that you choose as well as providing song options to stretch you. She is very encouraging and will help you to achieve things that you thought were outside of your ability. She is highly professional and a pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate in recommending.Helene has a warm and engaging manner that helps you to feel immediately comfortable.
